Polish Sprint 1.2


What we did this week

This was the last week that we've worked on our game. So we are finished!  We changed some mechanics so that it would work better, and there weren't any bugs  while playing our game. The main focus during this last week was the look of our game, to improve the feeling/player feedback while playing.

Mechanics

After finding the right sound effects we added these to our game. There are different type of sound effects so that the player has an easier time recognising what's happening in the game. We also added more player feedback in the form of extra haptic feedback when hitting the ground with every step you take so there is a real weight to the sumo walking around. The heavier you get the more your controller will shake.

Finally we also fixed the oilstains that spawn from the oilbarrels. They now correctly make the sumos slip and fall if they walk over them. We also added an explosion particle effect when the barrel hits the ground.

Effects

This past week we've focused on effects and the overall look of our scene.

With the previous feedback we were told that the effects could be more exaggerated. We have tried to apply this. The following effect appears the player is dodging and when the food hits the ground.

We've also worked on the effects of the rock explosion, the cannons and the food. 

Scene and assets

We added some tiles to the scene. To fill the scene more, we reused some props we've made before. We've also updated our main platform with a sumo ring. The lighting of the scene has been adjusted and we've added a post process. With the fog we tried to blend the background together.




Problems during the second week of polish

We had to fix some small bugs to smoothen out the gameplay. Just like last week, we didn't find that many problems so we could focus on the final look of our game.
